Video on How to Build a Trestle Table w/ Built in Seating

Six months back, we designed and built a trestle table and benches for a good customer who had renovated a 150 yr. old farm house. Many years ago I used to produce TV spots (before I came to my senses and took up woodworking). So, during fabrication, I would videotape a few takes during each process and later edited it on the computer. This 5 min. film shows the entire construction including installation. I used my own voice-over and set a piece of classical music to it. We've gotten a lot of good feedback and some work from it. Enjoy.

Great job with the video. My goal is to do something very similar on my website (www.hostetlercustom.com) soon. You do such a great job in your video and on your website of telling a story. Once a homeowner sees themselves as part of a story they are much more likely to pay for the quality you have to offer. Great work!

Thanks, Chris. As I told one of the staff members, I work hard to make projects look good with my hands. Might as well apply the same 'craftmanship' to my blogs, etc.

It was made for a 150 yr. old farm house from 100 yr. old reclaimed lumber per the client's design request. Glad you liked the video though.

Hey Russell,, Nice video and commentary. Makes me realize there is still hope for me, and my website as well.
Thank You!!

Hi Russell - This is wonderful. Despite the unfortunate anonymous comment, this is a very good example of a rustic farmhouse table: indeed many of the catalog stores carry a similar look....but your specimen is even nicer. And extra credit for using reclaimed wood!

Thanks for sharing the video idea, too. I've done simple slideshows on DVD's for clients at times, but I suspect they don't get watched much. The idea of using video, music and voice over, really adds a new dimension.

Also, I checked out your website. You do nice work!

Thanks for sharing.

As both a woodworker and a professional videographer, i find your way of telling a story here to be excellent. Great job -- both from the perspective of documenting something for the woodworker crowd and for making a very warm piece for potential clients.
