Not-So-Thru-Tenon Table

Listing #3813 Listed on: 04/05/2012 Name: Simeond

Another fun project which was a donation to a non-profit auction. Designed around some scraps around the shop, this hallway table is cherry with some walnut accents. I initially intended just to do some classic through tenons for the stretcher, but started messing around once I got started. These go "through" but stop, with walnut pins on either side of the legs.

That is seriously ugly, and it looks like its on the verge of falling over! Thanks for posting.

Interesting excercise in joinery, but, I agree; Seriously UGLY.

Wild grains there bro! Would be a good design for an outdoor bar or I can even see a pulpit (but for a bikies church!)
Keep going mate...a winning idea may be just round the corner to the envy of all your detractors!

This is very cool! Not everyone understands art.

Great use of scraps and I'm sure you learned something doing it - it's a nice piece.

It looks weak and flawed and may not last long. There are some things in the design that can't be compromised.

I like the top. The natural aspect of the top does not seem to fit with the bottom.
