Not my grandest project but sure was a lot of fun, and one of my most unique yet, using SketchUp to design an ocean swell and whales :-)

This is located a few blocks from San Diego Harbor, hence the nautical theme.

Nice how you really brought the spirit of the craftsman style to that project. I think the original builders of the house would be pleased. You didn't overdo it with the materials or design. It will make people smile after you're gone!

Oh yeah I was going for a slightly craftsman theme, but still wanted to do something unique. I mean, how many ways has a picket fence been built...not many! At least this one was different :-)

As far as people smiling when I'm gone yeah that's nice but I'd rafter not think about THAT :-)

Thank you so much for the nice comments Red!

Joe, this is great work. A fence might be overlooked as being "fine woodwork", but you've certainly nailed it. Nice use of Sketchup. I bet it really helped to sell the job. What paint did you use on the fence?

The redwood posts and rails received two coats of Dunn Edwards EX Prime. It really sealed in the tannin :-) I then used one coat of their Evershield Exterior Paint in a satin finish.

The Miratec fence boards got one coat of prime (comes pre primed)and one coat of paint.

Their painter came back, prepped things, then painted another finish coat.

Hi Joe. Great job, especially the rising hinges at the gate. Can you send me the detailing of the rising hinges?

Best
Anu

Oh sorry Anu but I hired an automatic gate opener guy to do the rising hinge install since he knows how to do it. It's a matter of welding the hinges offset to get the rise and I don't really understand exactly how he did it.
