This was a table built last year for a "man cave" which was pretty much a complete and separate house (nice for some).

I was supplied the materials by the client which consisted of two beautiful pieces of black walnut, some butternut, ash and cherry. I had a design brief that gave me a basic start, and then got a little carried away!! I wanted to create a floating look to the tabletops and so built them up on a saddle arrangement, and in doing so was inspired to create a Japanese look overall.

I am still not sure the walnut inserts in the butterflies worked but i was pleased with the separation of the frames and tops.

Funnily enough when I went to do the install the client had a couple of samurai swords on the wall so everything seemed to fit.

Great work - the support frames are beautiful in their own right.

I am not sure about the details in the butterflies, but hey, they are different - you won't see ones like that every day.

All in all, top notch work.

Thanks for the nice comments, trouble is when you knock in the butterflies then take a step back and go oops they look like band aids (haha)too late there's no chance of getting them out now!!! live and learn
