Those are some beautiful slabs and the carvings just set them off even more. I didn't see a name on whom's project??? What area are you located?? My site www.tsmfarms.com

Beautiful - how thick is the slab, how was it dried, and could you describe the finishing process from rough sawn to varnish? Thx.
Hi Joe. Thank you for your interest.
The slab was supplied from a local (Nova Scotia, Canada)saw mill, air and then kiln dried and final dressed/sanded to 8/4. This slab replaced an existing slab that had somehow (?) been infected by a wood boring beetle. The owner of the slab, who is a close friend asked me to 'do my thing' to the slab and then do the finishing and install. After several weeks of thought, I began to sketch it out and this is what developed. Much of the material was removed using a sanding disc on an angle grinder, before turning to carving tools. The hand work I did during a 48 hour power outage during Hurricane Aurthur (July 2014) under a battery powered flashlight. The finish is several layers of Spar marine varnish, my preference for counter/bar tops.
Hope this helps!
All the best, Ken.
Great creativity and outstanding work!
You've clearly taken 'live edge' to a whole new level. Very nice work indeed!
