This is my latest project. It is a ceiling of bleached walnut with a clear nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The panels are all the same color, the difference in appearance is caused by the way light refracts in the wood at different angles to the grain direction.
I cut all the panels on the CNC from quartersawn walnut veneer laid up on 3/4" Ultracore. I used TurboCad to draw and Cut 2D to generate code for our Multicam MT CNC.

That's insanely cool. Glad I didn't have that job, Id had gotten dizzy and blind and probably fell off the scaffold. That's a beautiful job Billy B !!
A marvel for sure. Way outa my league Billy. Understanding how you did that ceiling is "over my head"... pun intended.
Very nice, but why walnut?
Larry-
Good question! Bleached walnut was specified by the architect. It was their design, I just executed it. No one really expected the amazing chatoyance from the play of light on the different directions of the wood grain. We were all pleasantly blown away!
