Kitchen Island

This is a kitchen island that I built for my own home (new construction). It is made out of cherry with a maple butcher block top and a cherry live edge slab eating bar. Although its really just 3 cabinets joined together like a typical island, the attachment of the live edge slab was a bit of a challenge. As this is my first post here, I'd welcome any constructive criticism.

Love it. That slab of cherry is wonderful. You really found a nice hunk of tree to use I would like that kitchen in my house.

I think the live edge elevated slab is the Bomb! Great impact. What chairs are you going to use with it? What? How did you prep it and flatten it?

Thanks everyone for the comments.
Karl,
I used the router sled method to flatten the slab. Then just went at with a jointer & smoother plane to finished it off.

This looks great. I made a similar island for my kitchen and am seriously kicking myself for not leaving a live edge on mine...again really nice!
