Curious why the seams in the veneer? are so dark & "dirty".
That was just the natural color of the veneer.
I would have trimmed that ugliness off! Happy New Year!
Very nice website Scott!! I like how on some projects, you leave a little Mother Nature on them. Ive no problem with the mineral streaks or sap wood on your table. Perhaps its what the client wanted. To remove them would be like squaring off the edges on a live edge slab table.Nice work Scott, thanks for sharing.
The way that the design and the size of the table worked out there wasn't enough width in the veneers (and they were the widest I could find that had good figure) for me to cut off the sap. I determined that it was more important to have one sheet of veneer per leaf as well as on the rest of the field than it was to cut off the grey sap. Life and furniture design is full of compromises. Personally it doesn't bother me and more importantly, it doesn't' bother the client.
Hi Scott, the table is beautiful and I particularly enjoyed your above response...I couldn't agree more!
All the best, Ken.
