Built this Kitchen for a client for in his Timber Frame house. All the the Ash came out of his bush and I cut all the logs and had them sawn and dried. We decieded to go with a very rustic look to complement the timbers so instead of selecting all the clear wood I mixed in as many of the knots and stained wood as I could. We then had all the visable finished pieces Sand Blasted which gave the wood a very textured, barn-board look.

The Kitchen also features birch interiors, Maple dove-tailed drawers, Blum Motion soft-close slides.

The Granite is High Grade and is called Red Dragon.

All the Appliances are by Elmira Stove Workes and work well with the look we were going with (there is a pannel comming yet for the dish washer).

I gotta say - thats a little too much contrasting grain for me, but the kitchen itself is very nicely done. I'm sure you got the look you were going for, especially with the dated looking applicances. Very cool.

WOW, I love it.

Well, I personally don't like the wood, counter foors.

But the cabinets are first rate and I really like the design. Those appliances are wicked as well. I won't even bother to look up their prices.

Thanks for all the comments!

Yes it is a bit much grain, but it a house like this I personally deffinatly think it suites it. The pictures don't do the cabinets justice though...and its deffinatly a like it or hate it oppinion on them. To see them in person there is so much depth in the great...its quite impressive.

In the end, the customer is VERY happy and is just amazed that I was able to take standing Ash trees off his lot and now put them back into his house in the form of kitchen cabinets. It is deffinatly something that has ALOT of sentamental value to it.

Sweeeet, We did about 60 doors for a house in Jackson Wy. with sand blasted Hickory finished with a clear and no stain. was some tough suff to get a grain out of. Came out awesome. Too much much contrasting grain? Must be a flatlander!

Great job! I build timberframes and can say without a doubt that is a great looking kitchen. Question: Your shaker styled doors; did you v-groove the joints after you assembled them.

About the doors- I start with just a shaker profile. Once the parts are machined I then put a chamfer cutter in the shapper and do all the inside edges. I then use the same cutter to cut the chamfer in the ends of the rails...put them together and they turn out great. I usually then just do a chamfer on the outside only a little deeper than the inside depth. I have used this style of door quite a bit and although real simple it has a neat look that customers seem to like!

Really cool that existing ash trees were use to build the cabinets. Knots are decorative, fits into the timber frame very well. Looks like a fun place to entertain. Nice work.

I personally really love the choice of ash as a cabinet wood, in spite of it being hard on planer blades. I'm guessing that they are black locust pegs in the the timberframe which ties in nicely with the Elmira Stoveworks products, as does the hardware. As time goes by those ash cabinets will develop such a nice honey patina. Great work and congrats.
