Interesting - are you specializing in urban recycled material?
I really like the use of the natural apple for the back. A nice interpretation of a classic piece of furniture.
Thanks guys, I really value the comments and criticism from other woodworkers. Anthony, I do specialize in urban recycled wood-in fact it's all I work with anymore. I source the logs from a handful of tree services, saw them, dry the lumber, use the pieces I like best, and sell the rest (or burn it).
Thats cool, no sense wasteing what little we have left in the cities.
Good luck with your efforts. Hope to see you on the News!
Looks dangerous .. structurally I mean, there is no strength front-to-back. Sombody will hurt themselves if they sit down wrong.
Definitely, I'd put a couple long nails up through the bottom of the seat pointing up, just to make sure nobody decides to plop their ass down and end up cracking open the back of their head on the floor.
Do you know where I
can get plans for
this chair or one
like it?
I drew up plans for this chair based upon pictures I found on the web. I'd be glad to email you my drawings if you'd like.
Get George Nakashima's book 'Soul of a Tree'. If there is no slop in any of the joints the chair is solid. Mr. Nakashima mortised the upright into the foot instead of a lap joint.

Would you e-mail me your design plans? What is your fee? Please advise
Is there any way to get plans for conoid chair? Will pay.
If you could please email me the drawings you have for the Nakashima Coniod chair, it would be appreciated.
I need detailed drawings for an original Conoid Chair; are there such drawings in "The Soul of a Tree"? If not, can anyone help me to get such plans. Thanks
Great Job!
If you would email the drawings I would like to try to build one. I do not think I will match your skill but it would be fun.
Thanks.
Could you email me the plans too?
Thanks!
Just found this wsite and your postings. I too would really, really appreciate a set of the plans. Love it. Great eye. thank you
