Castle Tsm21 Drill Motor

Listing #160   Listed on: 02/28/2016
I recently purchased a used castle Tsm21. They told me when I bought it that the motor was discontinued by porter cable. But since it was a good price and still working I figured I would cross that bridge when I had a problem with it. Well it finally started messing up. I called castle and the complete kit to retrofit it was about $700.00. So my solution was to take a spare motor housing and fit a different one inside it. I cut the bearing housing out and stuck in my lathe and turned the inside out to fit the other motor. And here it is.

Does the grizzly router just friction fit in the porter cable housing?

Yes I had to machine the inside diameter to make it a press fit.

Beautiful and brilliant! I am curious as to how you chucked that thin shell of a housing for boring, without distorting it. Can you tell us?

Thanks for the idea. Took ours to a machine shop and had done as we don't have a lathe. Cost $100. Very nice savings

I also might note that I used a Makita router instead of grizzly. Bought two in case they are discontinued.
