AZEK

From original questioner:

Hi, have a client that wants some grill covers made in AZEK, I hear this stuff cuts like wood, anyone work with it on a CNC? regular end mills, or treat it like plastic? Thanks

From contributor De

Treat like plastic and use up shear bits

We cut it quite often. We use either a compression bit or cut almost all the way thorough with a down cut spiral and then finish with an up cut spiral. Second pass is just cutting through the onion skin.

We use a 3/8" carbide 2-flute bit at 18,000 rpm and about 200 ipm feed on 3/4" and 1" material. This does a nice, clean job.

Different brands of PVC do work differently. We've used Kleer, Azek and Versatex. Never had a particular problem on the CNC with any of them.

Did you ever have to run a bead profile the full length of the sheets of PVC? what type of tooling did you use to do this ?
