What would be the best, and safest way, to attach ceiling panels similar to the ones in the attached photo? The panels will either be 1/8" or 1/4" mdf. I don't know the dimensions of the room, yet. I would like something a little more secure than just adhesive, but if we go the adhesive route, it still needs something to hold it in place while the adhesive dries.

Loctite makes a tube adhesive with great initial tack and holding strength. Sorry I can't remember the exact name but Home Depot carries it. Also consider using a 23g micro nailer to hold while glue sets.
