I have some 3/4 thick solid phenolic I wish to cut on the CNC. Any advise on cutting this beast would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. CP

Depending on how much of this stuff you plan to cut..... Very little you can get away with solid carbide up shear has worked best for me. A moderate to a lot go with diamond. NOTE: This stuff is brutal on tools.

We called Vortex Tools and got a bit from them and tool speed/feed recommendations

I've cut 1/2" phenolic sheet with a PCD bit with good results. The bit was an Amana DRB-208 bit, and produced a nice, smooth cut.

Keep in mind that the chips from this material will not be good for the bearings.
The small flakey chips will skid in front of the bearing instead of wiping off. after awhile it starts to accumulate oil and debri Finally your bearing will stop turning and start to skid.
I cut 50 sheets, of 2 inch thick phenolic resin impregnated plywood. A few weeks later, I noticed chatter marks, on some of my sheet goods.
While trying to diagnose, I mentioned this to Thermwood tech support, right away he said, there is your problem.
When I took the bearing out, they had flat spots on them.
Make sure you charge a lot of money, it will cost you later.
I charged them $30,000
