Drawer Slide Options

03/20/2015

From original questioner:

My supplier is now only stocking Blum tandem full extension in the 500mm (drawer size 19 3/4") length for same day delivery. They say that most shops use this length for their base cabinet drawers now. I assume for full extension only. We have been using the 560H/550mm. I can get the 550mm "next day", but wondering if it's worth it.

Not sure why the shorter slides. Better use of sheet good for drawers? Not alot of difference between the two, the 500mm may be abit cheaper. We use 550mm.

Considering that you know your needs far in advance of next day, I'd stick to the longer ones and use it as a selling point. Keep a case or two in stock if you are forgetful about ordering.

That's good advice. Not sure why the 500mm slides would be most popular. Is there a reason to have more space in the back of the cabinet box? Just trying to think of some reason. Won't lose sleep over it though....

A 500mm slide will fit in both vanity and kitchen cabinets, so one slide does all, hence its popularity.

We use 21" for kitchens and 18" for bathrooms. We buy the short arm model which is 1.00 cheaper and same double line boring pattern fits both.
