I would like to improve assembly speed with frameless cabinets residential. We currently run confirmats. Cnc with dedicated edge borer. Cabinet vision software. I want to remove the edge bore for residential and use for commerical only. I believe blind dado would be faster removing the handling on edge boring and no AWI with residential. Any draw backs with shops currently running this system.

I think a doweled box with a cnc inserter and a good flat table router may be about as fast as you can keep up with. Seems like going to blind dados is a step backwards IMHO. The minimal time at the dowel inserter will be added back to the router, because it will take longer to run the dadoes than it will to bore for the dowels (IMHO). The key here is do you have a case clamp?

Used blind dado on 3/4" material for years and loved it.
no end boring required, also used full 3/4" backs. works great for nesting. Vastly superior to confirmats in my opinion. The dado registers the part and does so with more integrity than a screw.
We just held the blind dado back far enough that the edgebander was able to accommodate the machined part.
Go for it you will never look back. :-)

You may want to check out the Lamello P system. What you're looking to do is exactly what it was designed for. Pretty clever connection system, eliminates clamps and pulls together with 200 lbs. clamping force.

BTW, Lamello P system is already in the Cabinetvision library, and it can be integrated with CNC routers.

We have the Clampex system....it's pretty neat, especially if you need to send RTA cabinetry to the site for some reason....But the best system is really going to depend on your production goals...
Also, the Clampex system requires a "C" Axis CNC, with an aggregate...not something many shops have.

You may want to look at the Tenon Cam system if you go to blind dados, it is setup in Cabinet Vision. It is slick for blind dados.

While confirmats (VS screws) register in all directions, adding dowels (glued or not) provides faster/easier and more exact/solid registration (comparable to dadoes).
Confirmats alone are a compromise for when machinery/setups cannot provide the accuracy needed for dowelling. Because part locations can be slightly tweaked, using a thin bead of glue is a good idea.
