Veneering Plywood

12/20/2012

From original questioner:

I am looking some advice on veneering birch plywood - should I run the grain of the plywood Perpendicular to the veneer grain or will it make much difference?
The ply is 12mm birch ply.

Thanks
Ian

Ian,

Yes, each ply must oppose the previous ply at a 90 degree angle, or perpendicular. If not, you will have a very twisted/warped panel.

Many thanks - just what I had thought.

Not such a big deal if you are using paper-backed veneer. If you are using any kind of sheet "veneer" check the backing.

the angle difference between two must be of 90 degree
