What Wood Species

07/12/2016

From original questioner:

I was just at a customers home to do some modifications to this entertainment center, including making a mask for the Tv

I'm a bit stumped on what species of wood this is

What do u guys think?

Walnut? Is there some place you can scrape the finish off and use a cabinet scraper to get to the raw wood? Walnut has a distinctive smell. Also the natural color will help.

Butternut was my guess

Definitely older walnut. Orange shellac as a seal coat will duplicate that color pretty well.
