IWF

Got back from the IWF trip last Thursday. We were there just 2 days. That being said, I did not visit 100% of the CNC offerings. Did anyone here see anything worth talking about for further research? Personally I did not see a whole lot of anything new. I did see a type of toolholder offered by Techniks that I want to try this month. The dual gantry machine from Machine Tool Camp was unique. I have never seen that approach to machining a nest. Part labeling at the machine has been around a while. What else did I miss that you guys were personally intriqued by? Please include software if that applies.

What was the new Techniks tool holder?

It was different. It pulled the collet straight down into the toolholder versus the collet nut pushing it down by the threads, which is at a slight angle. The Techniks guy said it reduces runout. I will go ahead and buy a couple to evaluate. If it saves any tool life, it will probably be worth it. Its a lot cheaper than the hydro chuck or shrinkfit solutions. If it doesn't help, its not much money. I will post back on my observations on this thread.

The Oakwood Machine is one that I brought to market. Thanks for the shoutout. We had an amazing show despite my almost complete lack of marketing materials. It allows you to drill drawer fronts and doors for knobs and pulls in seconds. Huge timesaver over using jigs or even a CNC for this task
