Brown Custom Woodworks

Listing #802   Listed on: 01/21/2009

I started off life after high school at western carolina university, graduated in dec 2002; but have alwayswanted to be a woodworker. My family founded troutman chair in 1924 and sold in 1999. Herman Brown, my great grandfather, use to be a banker; he had to reposess a chair company in the 20's. Later, with 2 brothers, incorporated the chair manufacturing facility in 1924. My grandfather, Herman Philip Brown Sr and father Herman Philip Brown Jr. showed me bits and pieces of the business since I was about 15 or 16 yrs old. After getting some cabinetmaking experience, and laid off from canac kitchens in statesville, nc 12/31/08, I believe its time I start small projects such as building swings, child tables, seat/back caning and repairs which are more my intersts. I have a planar, jointer, moak 36 bandsaw, historic mortise machine, a production swing saw, a drum sander, pump up sander, and chucks. Most of my machines run on 3 phase. And for show and tell an old steam engine, that use to pull a plant line shaft. I believe you will find some of these interesting. I will post some photos, to for everyone to view.
