Contour bander glue options11/5/20
Looking for advice for contour banding with PVC edge tape on melamine panels.
I currently use a Virutex PEB250+ handheld edgebander, and it does a nice job for us.
My issue is that using .5mm edge tapes, I inevitably end up with some degree of waviness in in the face of my edge tape. I'm fairly certain that this is a result of the thin tape heating up and very-slightly melting or softening up as it goes through the machine and glue is applied. I do not have the issue when running 1mm or thicker tapes.
I've tried tinkering with glue temps and quantities, but even running the bander at minimum temp (120 deg) and minimal glue needed to get good adhesion, I still get some waviness.
I'm currently running Jowatherm 282.2 glue pellets, but I'm open to changing that if anybody has advise on something that might help.
Thanks in advance for any pointers.
I am not familiar with your bander but the over heating might be a result of the banding distorting before being pressed into the glue line. Have a look at the position of the banding with respect to the glue pot. Is the banding getting overheated there particularly when it is idle before starting on a piece?
I think the model I have, PEB250+, goes for $1700-$1800.
I really like Virutex
