fire suppression for paint booth costs6/30/15
we purchased a used booth with fire suppression before we moved into our new building. the new building has a wet system throughout and we didn't hook up the our chemical system in the booth because i thought we were covered by the wet system in the building. well, the wet system won't work for the fire marshal.
i've been given a few quotes to rehook up our chemical system and i'm (once again) in the wrong business. $3800-$5000 to permit, certify, and reinstall our existing system. this seems a little steep for one day of physical labor and probably a form or two to submit to the city.
anything i can do to get the cost down?
Sprinklers on the ceiling are not going to work for the booth because of the roof of the booth covering up the water flow.
Won't the fire marshall let you pipe your building water sprinklers into the booth.
When they tied our booths into the building system it didn't seem like such a big deal for the sprinkler / pipe fitter to run the pipe and heads in the booth.
We moved our booth within the shop and had the sprinkler system company put the pipes to it. Didn't cost all that much.
