Vacuum Pump Exhaust piping Examples

I was thinking about venting the Vacuum pump my cnc. I was told you can use PVC pipe to do so.

Any pics or examples would be appreciated.

PVC would be a VERY bad idea. It will melt pretty darn fast. You need steel pipe. Available at most home improvement centers, already pre-threaded in various lengths. And they usually have a nice selection of fittings.

PVC has worked well for us on our Travaini oil ring pumps.Our pumps are supposed to be vented to the exterior.

I have 3" pvc on my machine since 2012. this runs from the machine to the Vac, the exhaust probably should be metal for good reasons

It depends on what type of pump you have. The exhaust temperature from a liquid ring pump is very low compared to a dry vane pump. The exhaust from a Becker pump will melt PVC pipe. The exhaust temperature from a Travaini pump is very low in comparison.

We have a 15HP Busch oil flooded vane pump and have it vented through the roof with schedule 40 PVC. It doesn't get nearly hot enough to melt PVC. It does get hot, and may deteriorate over time, but it has been in place for 4 or 5 years with no signs of failure.

We are about to do the same thing. Ironic during the hottest time of the summer....
We have 2 Becker vanes and are planning on using metal conduit - EMT. Definitely don't want to use PVC on a vane pump.

In the summer, I vent my Becker outside with 4 inch metal heat duct and in the winter it vents. on my feet, at the console, to keep them warm.

I’ve moved them out of shop completely. No heat and no noise makes for a better work environment.
