Contact spreader

Has anyone a recommendation for a hand held solvent contact adhesive spreader? As a custom woodworker I only infrequently use contact adhesive and for years have used water based when needed. However on this job it's aluminum laminate and requires solvent based. Having done some of the job using a roller (the job can't be sprayed) I am reminded just what a frustrating and poor job results from rolling a fast dry adhesive. I see the Klebo spreader but can't imagine that it doesn't get all gunked up in moments, any experiences?
Thanks

Wilsonart 500 & 600 are "brush/roller" grade. If you are using spray grade that may be why it's setting quicker than you want. Short nap roller should work but the aluminum will reflect every bump and roller overlap line where the glue is thicker. Sounds like you are laying up on site & can't have odors. Contact Jeff or Brian Pitcher at Custom Pak 800-454-4583, they can help.

Thank You for your response Scott,
I used Premier PB950 brush grade and a adhesive roller cover. The first 12 sheets were laminated using a pinch roll and could have been sprayed but I wanted to keep things simple. The next 10 sheets will be applied to assembled casework and hand rolled. The casework requires the Aluminum goes on last.

Pfohl makes a great one. Used to have one and loved it. Lasted for years and years but way overpriced. But...it is sweet
Veneer systems carries it. See link

Thank you Chris,
It appears the Pfohl and Klebo are the same unit. It would be great if one of these would work for me. Can you help me understand why the contact adhesive doesn't dry and plug up the head and notches between use? I used a roller and tray in a sealed box between use and there was still a problem with thickened adhesive until fresh stuff could be mixed it.

The unit is closed at all times until in use. You press the lever with your thumb which opens the top ever so slightly which is adjustable with the screw you see on top. This is a glue applicator and thus you need to clean the teeth (easy coupla swipes with a paper towel) the opening clogs but every 6 months or so in my experience but also is easily cleaned with lacquer thinner. It's a great tool. Get it I think you will be happy. It is by far the easiest thing I have found for occasional use.
