Doors finally finished9/15/14
A few weeks ago I inquired about getting into making entry doors. Well, I finally finished and installed them today. Thanks to Gary Katz for the very informative book on door construction and installation. I found the info very helpful! I learned a lot with this project and I get to build another set in just a few weeks. I used Artcam software for the part design and my ShopBot to straighten and plane one side of all the lumber. All in all this was a very nerve wracking and fun project.
How did you end up making your curved molding for the glass (earlier post question)?
What type of wood?
This is Sapele wood. It was actually really easy to cut the window stop since the profile was a simple 1/2" round over. I just cut the curved pieces on my cnc to match the rail and rounded the edge on the router table. I'm sure a more complex edge detail would have presented a bigger challenge though.
