How are you dealing with the mountain of backorders?6/29/21
I'm sure you are all taking a serious hit on backordered stuff like we are. Thus far I've managed to avoid a sheetgoods crisis, but every day it seems I have 4-5 more backordered cabinet pulls, pantry pullouts, cutlery trays, drawer box components.
I have a stack of backordered items on my desk right now that's going to take me 3-4 hours just to make the appropriate calls and get actual ETA's (since literally NONE of the vendors actually have reliable ETA's that print on their order confirmations).
How are you guys dealing with all this stuff in your shop? How are you keeping track of what's arrived, what's going to miss the install date, what's going to be 4-5 months before it arrives......
I'm trying not to lose my mind keeping up with these but I ain't winning that battle.
Just gotta deal with it. I made a master list with the job name and the items..When they come it I circle and check them off.
Larger companies are getting needs met first, Blum and others have put distributors on a quota list for the smaller shops
Had a nightmare on some shelving for a reasonably large job 300 lin ft, too a month beyond normal order to get a close to match.
thank God the client was reasonable but still got paid late
