We use 3/4" UV Ply for our cabinet boxes. We paint our face frames separately and attach them to the boxes with pocket screws. Our finish ends get screwed from inside the cabinet.

Our problem is the joint between the finished end and the face frame. On the rare occasion we do an unfinished set, it's easy. Everything gets secured and v-grooved or sanded flush.

How are you attaching finished ends to boxes and what are you doing where the finished end meets the face frame?

Why not vee groove it as well?
Finish the end panel and end of the face frame, attach end panel, and done.

We pre-finish and have the same issue as Kalvin; our solution has been to flush trim/v-groove the exposed end(s) post-assembly, but this requires respraying the trimmed FF edges. I like Jim's idea of pre-trimming/grooving, but it seems like even a little waviness in the panel could mess with the alignment, not sure.

You may want to check out the Lamello P-System. Installing face frames and finished end panels are two very common, successful applications for it. You can type in 'Lamello Zeta' here on Woodweb and see what other customers have said about it too. Reach out if you'd like to learn more.

Make sure you are sitting down when you look at the Lamello, You get totally scammed when you buy the machine, and then you get scammed when you purchase the fasteners for it.
I hate companies like that. I will try 50 different things to make that end connection work before being ripped off.

We dado the back of our face frames 1/4 deep with 1/4 on the unfinished sides using 3/4” width.

On the finished end we dado a 1/2” with and rabbit 1/4 x 1/4 on the finished ends

This is all on 3/4” ply. We use uv for all parts and but one side coated or clear the inside of stained work.

We don’t dado shelf of deck pcs. Mainly pocket screw or staple with 5/8” x 5/8” cleat.

Jeff,
Using the Zeta would not necessary be my preferred method for this application but i definitely have to disagree with your
rather slanderous description of the Lamello Zeta tool and fasteners.
The machine has evolved into one of my most valuable assets at my shop.
Time saved utilizing the fasteners has compensated the relative expensive of them by multiples. Especially for clamp less field assembly of finished components
And no, I'm not associated with Colonial Saw in anyway.

Peter,
In no way am I trying to slander the tool, I think it is a fantastic tool.
However the price is absolutely out of line, the company probably has a patent that is good for x amount of years and then other companies may try produce it. How can you justify charging $2500 for a glorified biscuit jointer? The company is just taking advantage of the consumer.
