Matching applied molding
4/23/15
We are trying to match this applied molding, does anyone know what they might have used to make it? I have been looking and the only thing I can think of is they used a portion of a mitered door bit. Also it appears they applied without pins just using glue, is this a good way to apply? I was thinking of using hot glue is this a bad idea? We were going to finish both the molding and the doors separately and then apply.

We might be able to help you, measure the width, then go to our moulding catalog in above website and place that width in both fields, if it has a rabbet look in Panel moulds, if not look in Plant on categorie.
You can make this on a shaper.
Contact us if we can be of any further help

Yup, have a shaper cut made. Hot glue is NEVER a good idea. Too thick of glue line.

I get mine from Keim lumber under "panel molding".I use an underpinner to fasten the pieces together, which is likely the way that door was made since there are no visible fasteners.

If i had that job i would get a set of knives custom made for my Williams and Hussey from Ballew Saw.

If you can't find it otherwise just go to any of the places that have a molder and do custom in your area. Hot melt = bad idea unless it is PU!

Use wood glue and finish after the moldings are applied for the best adhesion .
