edgebander glue
11/25/15
I have a minimax me20 that I have had nearly for a year. I am currently using Jowat 288.70. It was recomended by the Jowat rep as it has a long open time as the bander has a line speed of 5m/minute. What I'm wondering is if anyone knows of an unfilled glue that will work with this speed of bander.
Thanks

Stay away from the filled glue. Use the unfilled glue which is a 280.30(natural) 280.60 (white) 280.90 (clear). The filled glue tends to burn faster and clog the glue pot while the unfilled will still burn but takes a lot longer. When that machine was new it came with 280.30.

HI Chris. Thanks for the info. I was wondering what glue can with the machine? how do you know this? I looked up the specs on 280.30, it says its good for 5-40m/min with a rolller and and 10-40 m/min with a nozzle. Im guessing a nozzle is with a cartridge sytle system

One other question. Will i get a better bond with an unfilled glue?

Better bond? Maybe, more depends on doing the correct setup. Slow machines typically have fewer pressure rolls. At any rate the unfilled doesn't cost any more per foot of banding. Give it a try. Maybe your supplier will be feeling generous and give you one of their sample packs. Get some clear banding out of them at the same time (also usually free) so you can see the spread.
