Beaded Door
2/14/18
Hi All,
I have a customer who wants to make a small quantity of doors like this using his CNC. The doors will be Ash with a light stain.
Any tips on how to go about this? Or is this something that's best to outsource?
Thank you
Richard

Easy to find a router bit to do the beading in the field, then add a beaded molding around the outside.

I guess my concerns would be tear out in the grain from the router bit and warpage if only 1 face is beaded. But flipping the part over to run the beads on the back also seems problematic as it will be unlikely to hold down with the vacuum.
What material would you use? Solid Ash? Or a thick veneer on a ply/MDF core?
Thanks for the response.

That would be tough with a router bit, it seems like you would be better off using a shaper or router table and gluing the slats to a backer and using some veneer tape or simliar

+1 Rich C's idea. Tearout should be a concern if the panel's going into a groove. You could also CNC them oversize and trim on your tablesaw.

You confuse me - "a customer who wants to make .... doors like this using his CNC"
Is the customer going to make them or are you; on HIS Cnc? Are you advising him? Are you asking about how to do the frames or panel, or both? Sorry if I am slow on the uptake.
