I custom build contemporary frame-less cabinets. I currently use what's left of a minimax me15 hot air edgebander. I would love pre mill, scraper and buffer. I wasn't able to attend the IWF Atlanta. I've been looking at cehisa mykro p plus, Felder G330, Minimax ME 25 and 28. Any suggestions and experience advice is welcome. Thanks!

It is my experience with woodworking equipment, that you buy a brand that you can get good service relatively easy. It is only a matter of time before you will have an issue and if the machine is sitting there and you are waiting for parts and service, it is a huge issue.
I am not sure how big of an operation you have, but an edgebander should only be a 1 or 2 person machine, as soon as you start having everyone run it, well lets just say your in trouble.
I personally wouldn't buy anything Cehisa or Felder as I am not a fan of their equipment. I have never used a minimax edgebander, but they are made by SCM and they make excellent edgebanders.
If you are looking to buy used there are a lot of the SCM edgebanders on the market, you can pick up a 201 for really cheap, I would of course get it inspected by a tech before purchasing, another machine that i would buy used is a Brandt, something like a 340, very good machines with scraping, solid wood capabilities, 3 mm round over for 3 mm edging.
A new glue pot on these edgebanders is ballpark 3 grand, so make sure you get them inspected if buying used.

Thanks for the advice. Being able to service the machine when it breaks down (they always do) is important. I have two friends that have the ceshia edgebander they bought from Adwood and they seem quite pleased. I've read they are built like a tank and Adwood does a good job of providing support. I don't know anyone locally who owns Felder. I have 2 scmi machines and they are quite solid.

I would take an honest look at Cehisa. We are a production shop, and run a Brandt as our main bander. I bought a used Cehisa EB-7 for the short ends of one particular phased project. We've run over 50,000 edges through that little machine with few complaints.

I own the Felder G360. I believe Felder makes some very solid machinery; their edge bander is NOT one of them. They are really quite new to banding equipment and are a long way behind the leaders.

Ps Ed sold me the machine and came out to my shop himself and spent 2 days getting us set up and trained on the machine. Ed designd the machine, sold me the machine, and he is the tech that installed the machine and addresed every issue and question I had. We ran actual jobs on the machine as we dialed it in. I am a happy customer!

Ed Moran had helped me repair our old Edgebander in the past. Ed is a mechanical and electrical technician. I was a bit skeptical of a bander that was full of proprietary parts from China. We made our decision after many conversations, and after looking at many edgebanders.
The electronics used in our Vantedge bander are non proprietary and available here in the USA. The finish and quality are equal or better than some of the actual European machines we looked at. Ed designed these machines around the experience he has gained working on edgebanders over the years. Ed was physically at the factory and communicating with me, via pictures and video while our machine was built. I am thinking I will start a new post to communicate our good and bad experiences we may have as we use this machine. We band alot of material every day at our shop. I will let everyone know how this works out. We have 1 week of full production on the machine now.

I owned a Cehisa for 14 years and it was a good machine that was very user friendly. The shop that bought it from me is also very happy with it. We also build modern cabinetry frameless and our thickest banding is 1mm. I bought a used Brandt with premill, corner rounding and preheat glue hopper that turned out to be a major mistake as I trusted the machine company I bought it from and it had not been used in over a year and needed major work. I paid 20k which included a new gluepot, but all the knives were for 3mm and many parts needed replacing and the labor for. The techs and parts cost me over 15k. The corner rounding was not repaired as it would cost another few thousand and with 1mm pvc tape, is not really needed. I also had to get a much bigger dust collector to handle this machine. It is working great now and we have refined the programs that any of my 6 guys can use it, but it is really big and overkill for doing 1mm or even 2mm work. Probably could have bought a new bander that would have more electronic line control and less time wasted setting it up and dealing with all the down time till we got it where it did what we required. In the mean time I have spoken to the shop that bought my used Cehisa and it has made enough money for them to go into CNC.
Lessons learned: have used machinery inspected and don’t trust used machinery sellers, be realistic about what your actual needs are instead of emotionally decision to have a large impressive bander, go to shows or other shops that are doing the same work as you.
