quality of custom corrugated shaper knives

I have always bought my custom corrugated shaper knives from the same company and they have always been great quality steel. They have always been a polished look and magnetized. This time the set i just ordered is not magnetized and the quality of the steel just looks cheap and i ran only two doors and its a dull cut. My guy says the electromagnetic chuck was out of order that day and it has no effect on quality but these knives do not cut good at all. Anyone have experience with this? Even though i buy these for custom small jobs, i always end up using them for future jobs so i really want the quality that im used to. My guy says he will have them sharpened for me but if they were dull brand new...

They profile may have been cut with a laser, water jet, or wire EDM instead or in place of a profile grind. I doubt if they changed steel because a chuck wasn't working. Tell them you want new knives. If they refuse, it's not hard to find a new service.

The salesman just told me he does not know what kind of steel he uses and he does not know how these knives were cut. But i have been buying custom knives from him for about 7 years.

Just curious, what does "magnetized" do for a knife?

Larry...Apparently nothing but i always thought it was a sign of high quality so i learned something today. All of my previous knives were magnetized from them and were really nice and get pretty good life out of them for being just steel knives.
Talking with another supplier and i sent pics and he can see the difference and he offered to make me the set of knives for free to show me his quality.
Current supplier is playing like they dont know anything and wants me to pay shipping back to them.
