How many euro screws are you guys using to mount 21" tandem slides in frameless construction ? My jig from Blum only has 3 holes that line up with the holes in the slides and I'm wondering if that will be enough . Up until now I have been using 5 - 3/4"long hardware screws . I'm mounting to 3/4" birch ply with a poplar core .

I use system holes drilled with a double line bore machine, so two 13mm euro screws in each side of undermount slides.

We drill our holes on a CNC. We put in three 5mm Euro screws, 13mm long.

When talking about 5mm euro screws, it is my understanding that the CNC'ed third hole is to make the location of the drawer slides intuitive for the assembler, not for strength. Am I wrong?

You are correct Mark, we use cnc and drill our holes in a way that the slide can only go in one way. We use 3 13mm euro screws to mount, 2 is probably enough as most of the force applied once the drawer is mounted is going to be shear.

Thanks for the replies guys

We CNC drill 5mm holes and use 2. Blum makes a slide where the mounting piece is shorter it only works for euro boxes of face frame that flush to the inside. They are cheaper than the ones that can use a hanging bracket.

Keep in mind that to achieve the manufacturer's specified load rating, you need to follow their hole pattern and number of screws. In the real world the 5 screws indicated in the Blum specs for most guides is probably way overkill, and failure is more dependent on the material the screws fasten to, but I put them in anyway.
