Mirror mastic and UV coated plywood

I have a cabinet that will be getting 2 mirrors. Anyone know if mirror mastic will stick to the UV coating on pre finished maple plywood? I could always reverse the plywood to expose the raw wood side, but the cabinet will be without the mirror for a week or two and I would still like it to be pleasant to look at during that time.
Maybe sand it where the mastic globs go?

I have done it successfully after scuffing the surface. Don’t know why you would not scuff unless it was going over primer.

There is always miles of talk of adhesion issues with UV ply for some reason. If your not comfortable with scuffing back you could always go bomb proof and install a few plaster repair washers for a mega peaceful nights sleep.

I have no aversion to scuffing the UV coating. Just want to make sure it sticks for as long as it needs to. Just scrub the small area I'm going to put the mastic on and glerb a blob on there. LOL

Yeah, Didnt mean you didnt want to scuff, I meant if you were concerned about the mastic bond to the UV clear a few of those washers and a forstner bit at the time of the mirror install would be a keyed in bit of insurance.

I would sand it a bit to get the shine off of it. The gloss of the plastic is a bit slippery. The fact it’s not raw wood is a good thing.
Silicone sticks better to smooth surfaces than wood. Mirror mastic would have similar adhesive properties. It’s designed for glass.
