There are a lot of Panasonic memories on here. I used to own a 15.6v & 12v back in the mid 2000's. I can't remember why I stopped using them. Very good drills.
I switched to Makita 18v around 2009. Some of their 3.0amp hr batteries lasted 10 years. The ergonomics are good. I've got a pile of tools. Drills, impacts, different saws, track saw, biscuit jointer, power plane etc.
The place Makita loses is the nail guns. I've got one of their brad guns. I had to switch to Hitachi(Metabo) to get a good framing gun. When I get a cordless trim gun it will be a Hitachi(Metabo).
Makita comes out ahead on cordless miter saws. Their hypoid circular saw is hard to beat. Their track saws are good and affordable.
Milwaukee just came out with a track saw. They made the track slightly different from everyone else, so some of the parallel guides, squares don't fit.
Yes, Milwaukee makes nice boxes. Makita boxes are rubbish. I actually buy Dewalt boxes after the Makita ones break.
Dewalt is a subsidiary of Black & Decker. They have a long history of making good stuff, then figuring out how to make it bad. I stay clear of them except for their boxes.
