Blind Stapler for Attaching Pre-Finished Face Frame to Cabinet
4/13/23
I’ve been pondering the idea of switching how I currently attach face frames to 1/2” boxes. I currently glue and brad nail my face frames directly to the prefinished plywood cabinet box then mask off the box and spray the face frame. I’d like to switch to pre-finishing my face frames and attaching everything and having a finished box. Pockets screws might work but 1/2” material doesn’t allow a lot of surface for the screw. I’ve also thought of switching to a dadoed face frame and using a spot nailer. I recently saw a company that makes what they call a Blind Stapler for fastening face frames and it looks really slick (I’ll put the company link down below). Wondering if anyone here has one and if the steep price tag is worth it to not have to dado or pocket screw face frames to cabinet boxes.

You could probably pay for that stapler in a couple jobs, maybe 1.

We use a 3/16" narrow crown stapler with 9/16 long staples for the 1/4" bottoms in our drawers. I've never tried it for face frames but it might work and be a cheaper alternative.

If it actually works it would pay for itself shortly.

FWIW the tenon cam guys IIRC used the senclamp, they could produce a lot of cabinets with their system

Senco Senclamp. I use one similar to it mad by BeA Fasteners. it has a beveled head so that is shoots at a 45deg angle to the joint, pulling the two parts together. I use a grip clamp to clamp the area tight then shoot.
