Scratched Panels from edgebander
11/22/24
We just picked up a SCM 28T edgebander used with just a few hours on it. Looks new. We were applying some 3mm pvc to some plastic laminated panels and there was a consistent scratch about 1 1/8" in from the edge. In measuring where it would line up with something in the bander it appears that the metal polished guides on the top and bottom trimmers are causing the scratch. Nothing in the manual about this and nothing we've tried to adjust works. There is not bur or rough edge on the guides. Any help?

I'm not familiar with your machine but years ago we had a similar problem with the front edge was being scratched. In our case the front and rear elevation screws for the beam had gone out of calibration. Once that was corrected it was fine.
Good luck, Allen

I'd he very leery of riding a metal tracing wheel or shoe on the face of a high pressure laminate face
It would need to be extremely well polished or have perhaps a UHMW / delrin overlay applied
