Hey All,
I am wondering how you are building your mini shaker doors and the pros and cons? Maybe you are buying your doors, how are they built.
I have build shaker style cabinet doors for years and I am all tooled up for that, I know shaker has a specific meaning from reading on this site some have debated. Anyways I am talking about a 5 piece door, all square stock. I also had a couple different profile cutters made and built a lot of doors with 3 inch stile and rails.
I have a few shapers, a double end tenon machine and had a good system set up.
Then comes along these new mini shaper doors with the small trim piece around the edge. More people ask about them.
I build some and I just cut 3/4 inch panels on the Cnc out of particle core veneer and then took a L shape piece of solid 1 inch x 1 inch by a 1/4 thick and mitered it and glued it on. The doors look good but my concern is the thin solid moving forming a crack on the back or breaking.
I did some research and found some interesting ways of doing it? Some are using a 2 1/4 style and rail and machining it for a 1/4 in panel to fit in and then I saw some L shape mouldings with one side being way thicker, at least a 1/2 inch.
Anyways looking for input as it doesn’t seem like this is leaving anytime soon.
Thanks
