Full overlay

I build face frame residential cabinets. Our typical framing is 1 1/2" I have a designer that specifies "full overlay". Isn't full overlay primarily for frameless? Do any of you build full overlay face frame cabinets? Fwiw she wants 1/4" reveals.

Full overlay should be frameless, and reveals should not be 1/4".
Most designers don't know the difference between 1/4" and 1/8".

Full overlay FF is a thing. Using FF hinges you need to have the larger reveals where two hinged side doors meet. It's usually 1/2". With a 1 1/2" Stile you would use a 5/8" overlay hinge to get your 1/4" reveal. Of course pairs of doors would have 1/8" or less for space between the doors. I generally use 3/32"
I'd opt for frameless though. FF overlay is a stronger cabinet less prone to rack during installation.

I don't build a lot of cabinets but I have built a few FF with full overlay. My FF are 1 1/2 inch with full overlay hinges and its about 3/16 to 1/4 inch reveal. My own kitchen cabinets are FF with full overlay.

Blum compact has a bunch of hinges for different overlays and at least one face mount that can do any overlay. Plan how your going to mount your drawer fronts too, full overlay and 5 piece fronts don't always like to work together if you don't have anything to screw them to.
