I have been using auto care for quite a while but one thing that is always stumped me is, when you draw a line at a certain angle that isn’t 90, 45 or 22 1/2and then you need to draw another line off of that line at another specific angle, that isn’t 90, 45 or 22 1/2.

Usually I will go to the angle box section and type in specific angles I want it to lock onto as I rotate my mouse in a circular fashion so it populates the angle.

I get irritated doing this, because often it doesn’t draw the angle line in the direction of what I needed to be so then I end up having to mirror the line once or twice to get to the angle I needed to be.

I currently have a job that I need to draw a line that goes in the direction of the lower staircase and then to the upper staircase to outline an area underneath the stairs that I will be doing a built-in for.

As I’m standing on the stairs facing the direction of the side of the staircase going up, I’m drawing a line from downstairs heading north Northwest to the first floor and then northeast to the second floor. That angle is let’s say for example, 57° I know about the command @ (ex 25) > (enter angle) so ex- @25>57, but it rarely draws the line in the direction i want it to go. How do i determine if i subtract the angle direction i want the line to go in from 360, 180 or 90 to know what angle to type in to get it to go in the direction I want it to go so I don’t need to keep going into the field box to type in specific angles I want it to snap at and also even with that, so I don’t need to use the mirror command to get the line in the direction i want it to go

Then,

After that line has been drawn at say 23 degrees, how do i draw my next line off of that at say 149 degrees off of that line, going in the direction i want it to go?

This makes my brain hurt to think about how to do this. lol

I have not used AutoCAD 2025, but it should be the same where a negative number goes counterclockwise and a positive number goes clockwise.

If you post some pictures or a video it might help me understand your problem better.

I typically use grip editing for such operations. I use thecopy option, which is hitting the space bar twice after activating a grip, and then pressing c for copy, then I type in the number, along with the b option for base point, if the grip I have activated is not the rotation point.
