Cabinet Software -- 0 --

Ok guys, I know this has been gone over before but I want to make sure I have the latest information out there.
I am looking into purchasing software for cabinet design and G Code.
I would like software that will help with the following:
Drawing
Bidding/Estimating
Cut listing
G Code
Right now my draftsman spends too much time getting drawings ready for approval, after that my guys code it and take to the CNC. I am in hopes to cut out some of the leg work if possible.
We build Euro style commercial casework with Blum Metabox drawers.
I am currently getting ready to look into,
Micro Vellum,Cabinet Ware, Cabinet Vision, KCDW? Thoughts or opinions?

You can try Moziak for a test run at only couple months payment, the company wrote most all of the better software you see on the market and moved ont to make this "Todays Software" best to kick the tires and make sure it will make the whole trip before getting on the road !

We run commercial casework all day with Cabinet Vision. It is very fast.
Some don't like the price point, but in reality you are already spending it with the time you are taking to do what you are doing. I have one dedicated drafts person that draws 5 days a week. I take the drawings after field dimension corrections and send to code in a matter of seconds.
No matter what you get, it will improve and increase your production and bottom line.

Hi Brian,
I work for KCD Software, we have software that will go from Design straight thru creating G Code for the CNC Machine. KCD offers FREE online demonstration of the software. Just give us a call, 508-760-1140, to set up an appointment. The owner of KCD started out in the Cabinet Making Business and eventually moved into the cabinet software end, so KCD is very intuitive. KCD offers FREE technical support and we DO NOT charge any Annual fees or maintenance fees. If your interested give us a call.

Take a look at Cabinet Pro Software. I have used it exclusively for the past 12 years. I design, bid, produce detailed shop drawings (including section views), and produce g-code directly with this software. We build everything from box cabinets to reception desks with Cabinet Pro. Give them a call (541-664-2808) and talk with Frank. He will give you an honest opinion if the software will meet with your requirements. You can also call me if you want a cabinet makers point of view 941-723-0278

Cabinet Pro CNC is software that will take you from design to bidding, to cutlists, to panel optimization, and then to CNC code for modular or custom cabinets and components. Our CNC code is written in 7 different languages to support ALL CNC routers: G-Code, Woodwop, Biesseworks, Hops, Wincut, Shopbot, and HPGL. Like most software companies, including those you mentioned, we too offer free support and no maintenance fees, unless you want to purchase yearly updates. You may want to watch our demo in the privacy of your own office, or feel free to give me a call at (541) 664-2808 for an online demo. Even though rentals are in the long run more expensive than purchasing because you end up paying forever without owning anything, we offer Rentals anyway as well as Rent-to-own, and outright purchases of our software. Right now, there is a 25% Christmas Discount on all software until December 31st.
I hope you had a Merry Christmas and I hope you and all the posters on this site have a very prosperous New Year!

Hi Brian
I wanted to elaborate a little on our process with our software. We get a po or contract and using pre-filled out templates in cad or the drawings library we load all the info like GC, Ship to address, delivery schedule etc, laminate finishes, etc, then start the drawings process. We paste the floor plan, the elevation and a cross section to a sheet and the software lables the room, and the title blocks are auto filled. The drawing go in for approval, we measure in the field, correct the drawings to field numbers and send it to code.
The drawings can be pretty time intensive, but the pre-filled out title blocks, etc, help to make it flow a little faster.
I hope this helps for you on deciding. Whatever you decide on, it should pay for itself very faster and you will relay on it heavily. I know we do.

Not completely related to the topic, but I find it curious that so many responses seem to conclude that shops no longer use panel saws and point-to-points. Depending on what you make, the work cell approach will put out a much higher volume of parts. Nesting isn't everything and it's not right for every product line and production method. And when it comes to nesting, there's more to it than simply laying parts out in a nest and creating machining. Not all nest generating software programs are equal. What you make and how you make them need to be taken into consideration first.

There is also one interesting software https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98KQGtq2zSE
Maybe it is good for smaller jobs

FORUM GUIDELINES: Please review the guidelines below before posting at WOODWEB's Interactive Message Boards (return to top)
WOODWEB is a professional industrial woodworking site. Hobbyist and homeowner woodworking questions are inappropriate.
Messages should be kept reasonably short and on topic, relating to the focus of the forum. Responses should relate to the original question.
A valid email return address must be included with each message.
Advertising is inappropriate. The only exceptions are the Classified Ads Exchange, Machinery Exchange, Lumber Exchange, and Job Opportunities and Services Exchange. When posting listings in these areas, review the posting instructions carefully.
Subject lines may be edited for length and clarity.
"Cross posting" is not permitted. Choose the best forum for your question, and post your question at one forum only.
Messages requesting private responses will be removed - Forums are designed to provide information and assistance for all of our visitors. Private response requests are appropriate at WOODWEB's Exchanges and Job Opportunities and Services.
Messages that accuse businesses or individuals of alleged negative actions or behavior are inappropriate since WOODWEB is unable to verify or substantiate the claims.
Posts with the intent of soliciting answers to surveys are not appropriate. Contact WOODWEB for more information on initiating a survey.
Excessive forum participation by an individual upsets the balance of a healthy forum atmosphere. Individuals who excessively post responses containing marginal content will be considered repeat forum abusers.
Responses that initiate or support inappropriate and off-topic discussion of general politics detract from the professional woodworking focus of WOODWEB, and will be removed.
Participants are encouraged to use their real name when posting. Intentionally using another persons name is prohibited, and posts of this nature will be removed at WOODWEB's discretion.
Comments, questions, or criticisms regarding Forum policies should be directed to WOODWEB's Systems Administrator
(return to top).
Carefully review your message before clicking on the "Send Message" button - you will not be able to revise the message once it has been sent.
You will be notified of responses to the message(s) you posted via email. Be sure to enter your email address correctly.
WOODWEB's forums are a highly regarded resource for professional woodworkers. Messages and responses that are crafted in a professional and civil manner strengthen this resource. Messages that do not reflect a professional tone reduce the value of our forums.
Messages are inappropriate when their content: is deemed libelous in nature or is based on rumor, fails to meet basic standards of decorum, contains blatant advertising or inappropriate emphasis on self promotion (return to top).
Libel: Posts which defame an individual or organization, or employ a tone which can be viewed as malicious in nature. Words, pictures, or cartoons which expose a person or organization to public hatred, shame, disgrace, or ridicule, or induce an ill opinion of a person or organization, are libelous.
Improper Decorum: Posts which are profane, inciting, disrespectful or uncivil in tone, or maliciously worded. This also includes the venting of unsubstantiated opinions. Such messages do little to illuminate a given topic, and often have the opposite effect. Constructive criticism is acceptable (return to top).
Advertising: The purpose of WOODWEB Forums is to provide answers, not an advertising venue. Companies participating in a Forum discussion should provide specific answers to posted questions. WOODWEB suggests that businesses include an appropriately crafted signature in order to identify their company. A well meaning post that seems to be on-topic but contains a product reference may do your business more harm than good in the Forum environment. Forum users may perceive your references to specific products as unsolicited advertising (spam) and consciously avoid your web site or services. A well-crafted signature is an appropriate way to advertise your services that will not offend potential customers. Signatures should be limited to 4-6 lines, and may contain information that identifies the type of business you're in, your URL and email address (return to top).
Repeated Forum Abuse:
Forum participants who repeatedly fail to follow WOODWEB's Forum Guidelines may encounter difficulty when attempting to post messages.
There are often situations when the original message asks for opinions: "What is the best widget for my type of shop?". To a certain extent, the person posting the message is responsible for including specific questions within the message. An open ended question (like the one above) invites responses that may read as sales pitches. WOODWEB suggests that companies responding to such a question provide detailed and substantive replies rather than responses that read as a one-sided product promotion. It has been WOODWEB's experience that substantive responses are held in higher regard by our readers (return to top).
The staff of WOODWEB assume no responsibility for the accuracy, content, or outcome of any posting transmitted at WOODWEB's Message Boards. Participants should undertake the use of machinery, materials and methods discussed at WOODWEB's Message Boards after considerate evaluation, and at their own risk. WOODWEB reserves the right to delete any messages it deems inappropriate. (return to top)
