What Type Of CNC Machine Drills Multiple Holes?5/16/20
I have 13 of these cedar posts, will probably 4x4, that need ten 3/16" holes drilled up them.
what type of CNC rig will drill these? Hopefully I can find someone in the San Diego area if I know what types of machines will cut these. It would save my poor elbow cutting all of them on the drill press!
It would be faster to just make a jig and hand drill those holes.
Yeah that'd what I'll do Jerry.
You will need a special tool to drill a hole 4” deep. Then you will also need a 4” stroke and a fair amount of clearance with a long tool. I would build jig to place in drill press and bust them out.
Almost any flatbed CNC router would do this. I would build a simple jig to hold the parts in position, program the pattern and peck drill them to clear the chips. As long as your machine has adequate Z axis height should be no problem. We have over 12" so it would be easy and much faster and more precise than hand drilling even with a jig. YMMV
Maybe a pnuematic line boring machine
