SCM Pratix Error � Need Help!

We recently acquired an SCM Pratix N15. While testing it out, we attempted a automatic tool change. Something happened and the machine went into emergency while the spindle was at the ATC.

We managed to get the spindle back into the normal working area over the table, but cannot clear the error. It's says it's a �PLC275� error.

I�ve tried using the MDI screen to issue instructions, but it doesn�t seem to accept the instructions (or doesn�t send them to the controller?).

I need help restoring the machine to normal functionality. Please help.

The machine manual should tell you what the error is.
Do you have a wiring diagram?
Quick google search - maybe this is the same machine?

The link you posted got cut off, but, yes, that�s my post on cnczone. Same machine. Same issue. I wasn�t getting any response on there.

Yes, we have manuals and schematics. The error is PLC275 �Axis Movement Limited.�

It looks like the previous owner/operator frequently got that error because they listed the steps to resolve in the back of manual. They appear to be correct steps from what I could find elsewhere. However, they don�t seem to have an effect. I�m new to this software, so I�m really not sure if I�m just using the MDI interface wrong (user error) or if it isn�t communicating properly with the controller.

Attached images are the error description and steps written to correct. Does this look correct? Is there a trick to sending MDI commands with this software?

What control?

The user manual should have info on MDI. Likely some kind of enter or EOB or something after the Mxxx.

Dave,

Try turning the machine off and then while off, manually activating the limit switches for each axis. Push each of them in a few times and release them. Then start back up. If that works then you have a bad limit switch- easy to replace. Hope this helps.

THat is not an "error" code, but more of a message. The machines is telling you that you have limited movement ability because of how close the spindle is to the tool rack. You have to first jog the Z up, while pressing and holding the white light button to maintain power, once it is up you should be able to jog X away from the rack then do a REFERENCE from there.

If you cannot jog the head up, then turn the white light off and manually push the entire gantry away from the tool rack, until the rack is completely outside of the machine shroud. At that point, you should be able to do a REFERENCE and go back to work from there.

Thanks so much for the replies, everyone.

I have already managed to get the spindle away from the took hanger and back into the main work area. I powered it down and manually moved it.

Yet, it will not allow me to calibrate without first clearing the error/message.

The manual (and the previous operator notes) say to execute the M302 in MDI. This is where I seem to be stuck. I enter it in on the MDI page and believe I�m sending/executing it but nothing happens.

I�ve also had trouble using anything on the MDI page (spindle test icons, etc.), so I suspect it's either user error or something is not communicating properly. I would really like to rule out user error before spending the money on a service technician.

I�ll take another look through the Xilog Plus manual.

Depending on the age of your machine, there is a chance that panel Mac will not work, you should only be using the handheld device to operate the machine. This would explain why MDI functions are not working. Have you called SCM for tech support?

It was the handheld. I was pressing the start button on the panel instead of the handheld. 🤦‍♂️

P275 is cleared. I shut it down & restarted just to be sure it didn�t come back. All good.

The Busellato Easy Jet is the same as an SCM machines, they share all components and software, some options are different, but for the most part they are the same.

I am glad I could help, keep us in mind the next time you are looking for equipment, there is something to be said for dealing with a smaller company, you get a more personalized experience. Casadei Busellato has the same technology as SCM, but with better support.

Funny how shit runs down hill, I now own this machine... had to spend like 2k on parts for vacuum pump's Vanes were destroyed new one's on the way, As soon as get them back together I have a tech lined up to give it a once over. Hopefully all is good, That's why I bought from a dealer and not from an auction or Individual ,The Internet is powerful tool. Just going to keep my finger crossed and hope for the best.
