Biesse Rover -TP Suction Box Error

10/23/23
Richard

Hello,

I'm having issues with a Biesse, the suction box (Dust Hood/shroud) has raised up but it doesn't seem to be recognising that. I've uploaded the error messages. I'm assuming it's an error with a sensor. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Thank you

Richard

The sensor will have a light on it. If the light is off either the sensor is bad, a wire is broken or the sensor has moved.

If it's off, you can try to test it by holding a screwdriver up to it and see if the light goes on.

Otherwise, with the machine in e stop and the hood up, loosen the sensor mount and move it towards the hood to see if the light goes on. Mark the original position or take pics of it's location before you move it.

Could also be something mechanical limiting the movement of the hood.

Ok. This is about what I figured. The only trouble is that I can't find any sensors with LEDs to test. It seems like they are enclosed.

I've uploaded a picture of the spot where I believe the sensors are located. I think I've identified a metal plate that's responsible for triggering the sensors. It seems to be aligned correctly

It looks like the hood is fully raised up. But the CNC does not recognise it.

Any other ideas of what to do next are welcome

The proxy is usually mounted on the cylinder and is triggered by the piston inside the cylinder.

Hi
I have a 2022 Rover A and I have this error pretty regularly.
I have worked with John P @ Biesse and have multiple techs out to address this issue. I think it is a potential design flaw.
I have even had to replace the cylinder tied to this hood twice already. I have spent thousands of dollars trying to fix this.
If you lower this black plate down to partially cover the blue sensor, it should help fix it. Hopefully these pictures help!
Let me know if you find a permanent fix!
Stefan

I suspect that will be your permanent fix. It looks like they are using the slots as a counter. The long slot tells the machine that the hood is down and the short slots tell the machine where. With the bracket high and both sensors exposed the machine thinks the hood is down and likely very confused because the count of the small slots is off.

I've had a few Biesse's and if they get confused, they stop dead.

The problem is that is seems to go out of adjustment a lot. We were told to add Loctite to the screw that holds it in place.
Good luck

You could weld a washer in the appropriate spot so it won't move.

We have had similar problems with our Rover A, I have replaced two proximity sensors and re aligned the bar several times. They can be quite touchy.

Had the same issue many times on a new Rover As. Tech has been out 3 times so far. This is no doubt a design flaw. I find it happens when you have long tools in there.

Yes the up sensor is not being made. What you must find out is why. Is the round shaft screwed in all the way on the bottom or is the tab on the bellows plate bent in an upward position? Keep in mind the bellows brush in operating position should never be folded over on the material and if it is then its in the wrong position or the brake has failed. This will cause bellows and supplied shafts to bend.

You should adjust the height of the suction box.
The cylinder which is moving the box up and down will have 2 nuts on rod.
This is where I usually adjust it - look at the suction box from beneath and You will see at least 1 nut and the cylinder rod.

Messages are inappropriate when their content: is deemed libelous in nature or is based on rumor, fails to meet basic standards of decorum, contains blatant advertising or inappropriate emphasis on self promotion (return to top).

Libel:   Posts which defame an individual or organization, or employ a tone which can be viewed as malicious in nature. Words, pictures, or cartoons which expose a person or organization to public hatred, shame, disgrace, or ridicule, or induce an ill opinion of a person or organization, are libelous.

Improper Decorum:   Posts which are profane, inciting, disrespectful or uncivil in tone, or maliciously worded. This also includes the venting of unsubstantiated opinions. Such messages do little to illuminate a given topic, and often have the opposite effect. Constructive criticism is acceptable (return to top).

Advertising:   The purpose of WOODWEB Forums is to provide answers, not an advertising venue. Companies participating in a Forum discussion should provide specific answers to posted questions. WOODWEB suggests that businesses include an appropriately crafted signature in order to identify their company. A well meaning post that seems to be on-topic but contains a product reference may do your business more harm than good in the Forum environment. Forum users may perceive your references to specific products as unsolicited advertising (spam) and consciously avoid your web site or services. A well-crafted signature is an appropriate way to advertise your services that will not offend potential customers. Signatures should be limited to 4-6 lines, and may contain information that identifies the type of business you're in, your URL and email address (return to top).

Repeated Forum Abuse: Forum participants who repeatedly fail to follow WOODWEB's Forum Guidelines may encounter difficulty when attempting to post messages.

There are often situations when the original message asks for opinions: "What is the best widget for my type of shop?". To a certain extent, the person posting the message is responsible for including specific questions within the message. An open ended question (like the one above) invites responses that may read as sales pitches. WOODWEB suggests that companies responding to such a question provide detailed and substantive replies rather than responses that read as a one-sided product promotion. It has been WOODWEB's experience that substantive responses are held in higher regard by our readers (return to top).
