Holzma Optimat saw question

I have a 7 year old panel saw. We had the hard drive go on it a few months back. After paying Stiles $2,500 for a $200 hard drive and about the same to install it we now have it where when we shut down the power for more than a little bit (maybe 20 minutes) we lose our software on restarting and Stiles has to manipulate it remotely and get it to turn on. They have been able to do that but having to rely on them to every time isn't a viable solution. I'm being told by Stiles I need a new computer for around $10k. Besides thinking its ridiculous to pay $10k for a $500 computer it seems to me that if they can manipulate it remotely it's a soft ware issue rather than a hardware issue. Any insight by you guys would be appreciated. Thanks and happy Thanksgiving.

Sounds like the backup battery is dead.
Replace it while the machine is turned on.

Thanks Dropout, I'll check to see if that has been done yet.

That is the CMOS battery, about the size of a nickel and it is on the motherboard it is a 3205 battery, pretty common and not hard to find. Yep Stiles is rather pricey. A couple of years ago I replace the drive in out Holmag edgebander with a Samsund SSD for about $45. You should have a backup and it should be on a flash drive as a precaution. You should be able to find a computer tech that can fix that issue.
