I have do do a part of a kitchen in a olive/grayish color. My local SW Commercial Coatings store mixed the product for me and used SW Clear as the base. The problem is it is supposed to be a pigmented coat and it is spraying more like a toner, you can see tight through it. Was the wrong base used? I read somewhere that there were regional industrial stores that have to mix the dark colors. Any guidance would be appreciated. Where I am I do not have a lot of alternatives for coatings retailers.

we can't really respond as there is not nearly enough info for us out here in timbuktu for us to respond. but anyway:
1. did sw cc give you a spray out/color chip sample with delivery of product? if yes, and there should have been a chip - was it satisfactory? have you asked how they produced the spray out sample?
2. have you even called them? that is really step #1.
3. perhaps the percentage of color load was insufficient.
4. perhaps it is a self seal/prime. i.e. do not use a white/lighter primer. even though sample chips typically start out white...

I did not get a sample chip, just a smear on the top of the can. Since posting I have contacted a regional center. I was informed that they have a "blending team" who can do dark colors in the Kem Aqua Plus where the typical commercial wood coatings stores can not. I ordered the colors through them and they are shipping them. My local shop credited me back for the product. In SC, where I am located, very few shops and paint stores do waterbornes. My shop is not that knowledgeable in waterbornes as solvents are still the go. The laws are pretty liberal as long as the spray booths meet fire codes.

I know SW has a new water based pigmented cabinet finish that comes in at least a white and clear tintable bases for white and dark colors. I'm guessing that they have formulas figured out for their deep/accent base colors. I haven't used it so l can't vouch for the product. I know of the product as they keep trying to get me to use it but as now l haven't.
