Ultrasonic cleaners

Hello all
I finally went and got myself an ultrasonic cleaner to deep clean my spray guns/parts
I tried it on some small things like air caps/nozzles etc...
I just used water and some solution that came with it
Seems to work pretty good
However, can I use solvent to clean my guns/parts?
What do you guys use ?

I've used MLC GLC10 at 30%. The best thing you can do is use the heater on the ultrasonic machine on it's highest setting, usually 140ºF

I've also used pure thinner in a small glass jar that I put into just water in the ultrasonic machine. Something like a cap or a tip or something I use little 4oz beakers that I use for measuring catalyst that the thinner and small parts go into.

I've never filled the tub with thinner because mine has plastic parts for the drain and I don't know if they could handle it. Plus I don't want to use that much thinner in a heated tub.

I use heated Acrastrip 800, it works great for CV and 2K poly. It's also waterbased so you can heat it and not worry.

I put parts in a small glass filled with lacquer thinner and sit that
in the ultrasonic cleaner filled with water. works real good

2nd vote for ultrasonic + Acrastrip. I bought a 5g bucket a couple years ago and am still going through it. Great stuff, worth the shipping cost.

I have also just got ultrasonic cleaner.got a pail of 600 accustrip.stared with my old kremlin Mx gun,just about looks new.I wish I had done this 10 years ago.when u run the cycle can I leave overnight?would like to soak them then clean when I have the time,as now I clean off after soak,that’s why I started with my oldest gun,thou I like that gun over the mvx,jim

Just an update

I got some of that Acrastrip but they told me to use the 600
Tried it and works very well
It is used 50/50 with water
The smell reminds me of the same stuff that MLC has GLC 10 that Leo suggested
Is it the same stuff?

Acrastrip is a paint stripper. Stainless steel parts are probably OK to leave overnight but I wouldn't leave the air caps. I used to have my guys soak the air caps and tips in solvent overnight and then clean the parts the next morning during set up. Just a thought.

most likely if they are plated parts, leaving them in too long the plating will come off, it has happened to me!!
