Kremlin Pump Cleaning

I spray waterborne primers and finishes and always run about a gallon of clean water through the pump after spraying then I finish up with circulating Citra Clean and leaving that until the next spray. But now I'm seeing prices for $50 a gallon for Citra Clean plus shipping.

I'm just curious what you use to clean your Kremlin pump to keep the cost down.

Thank you.

My Kremlin is 16 years old and I've never once put a stripper in it. Just open it up and clean it. Only takes a few minutes and you can make it sparkly and get all the crud out. I've put a couple lines on it, one doesn't count because it was 2K kicking off in my pump (oops).

Could be different because I only use solvent.

Thanks, Leo, but I'm looking to hear from water-based Kremlin users.

Cleaner is consumable. It protects your pump. What ever works best just use the one your comfortable and works. This is something you will add to the customer bill.Am i missing something here? You are not suppose to work for free? Everything is sky rocket and so do the chemicals.
Your pump is your service weapon.you cannot cheap or experiment that will fail on the field.
Good luck

Yavuz, What you said goes without asking. I'm just simply asking Kremlin owners what they're using.

Michael, I dont have a Kremlin. I have Wagner Cobra .i use Envirolak EnviroKlean for 2K water base materials.
It works for me.

Yavuc, I used to use Envirolak but I never used Envirolak EnviroKlean.
If I could ask you how much do you pay for the Envirolak EnviroKlean and what size container.

Thanks

the wagner cobra is an awsome pump, ;most don't know about it,
adouble diaphragm pump with a 40-1 ratio but runs extremely smooth at 10 psi air pressure and no pump wink

has a small area to clean out but has a high delivery that can easily 3 guns.

or more

a terrific but little known pump;, great for wood and metal finishing. and smooth as glass delivery, i had a demo on one,

good luck

Michael, i am in Bakersfield-CA. i mostly order from internet.i wish there were competitive stores that i can find reasonable good prices for the materials i use but unfortunately commercial retailers either do not carry or did not hear them :) sometimes $37 sometimes $47 plus shipping (where ever in stock when i need) After Covid everything changed :( crazy.
Herb, i am a Cabinetry guy not a finisher.Got the machine before Covid when i decided to add a water base setup for 2k materials. I agree with you not a well known machine.maybe the price maybe something else very underrated .Works like no other, sprays like no other, cleans like no other. Not sure what kind of technology behind but absolutely pleasure to use each and every time.

Yavuz, I'm sure you have your Envirolak dealer set up but have you ever tried Focal Finishes, 251 Eastern Avenue, Bensenville, IL, 60106, (312) 543-7077.

When I was using Envirolak I've been through my share of their dealers and when I started using Focal Finishes I never looked back. Great prices, fast service and always full gallons and 5s.

Thought you might like to know.

i have studied this pump cobra for awhile, u r right, cleans up quicker than my original kremlin 10-14..reason the fluid passages are smaller and it is a double diaphragm pump

it is also air over hydraulic power so there is absolutely no wink at all , as u know.

it can handle almost any product and wont wear like a traditional piston style pump.

i hope to get one soon. clean up time, rduced solvent usage, no wink, and and many more

Herb, i got mine from CET. They had the good price that time and great customer service.Spare parts are available including tips and caps at their web page.
I believe these kind of big company's must have Amazon type easy to browse and easy to buy web pages. This company has it.you can browse any parts or machine you need .Buying is as easy as wall painting:))
Guess you cannot have enough finishing arsenal even if you are not a finisher like me. airless, air assisted, hvlps, turbines ohh god:)
Sorry Michael i jacked up your thread.

I use acrastrip to flush my my kremlin pump & lines as well. Usually to cut down cost I dilute it with 50% water and it works well, you can keep filtering and reusing it for a while too. 5 gallons generally lasts me a while

I just received an order of 4 gallons of Citra Clean from MROCHEM in New York. 4 gallons cost me $150 plus $17 for shipping. The price was a lot better than paying $50 a gallon from online companies that I won't mention their names. With MROCHEM for each gallon you purchase, the price gets cheaper but not with other online companies.

I have been using Citra Clean for many years and like its stripping power. This is not to say anything else recommended in this thread is not as good but I like the Citra Clean.

  • WOODWEB is a professional industrial woodworking site. Hobbyist and homeowner woodworking questions are inappropriate.
  • Messages should be kept reasonably short and on topic, relating to the focus of the forum. Responses should relate to the original question.
  • A valid email return address must be included with each message.
  • Advertising is inappropriate. The only exceptions are the Classified Ads Exchange, Machinery Exchange, Lumber Exchange, and Job Opportunities and Services Exchange. When posting listings in these areas, review the posting instructions carefully.
  • Subject lines may be edited for length and clarity.
  • "Cross posting" is not permitted. Choose the best forum for your question, and post your question at one forum only.
  • Messages requesting private responses will be removed - Forums are designed to provide information and assistance for all of our visitors. Private response requests are appropriate at WOODWEB's Exchanges and Job Opportunities and Services.
  • Messages that accuse businesses or individuals of alleged negative actions or behavior are inappropriate since WOODWEB is unable to verify or substantiate the claims.
  • Posts with the intent of soliciting answers to surveys are not appropriate. Contact WOODWEB for more information on initiating a survey.
  • Excessive forum participation by an individual upsets the balance of a healthy forum atmosphere. Individuals who excessively post responses containing marginal content will be considered repeat forum abusers.
  • Responses that initiate or support inappropriate and off-topic discussion of general politics detract from the professional woodworking focus of WOODWEB, and will be removed.

WOODWEB's forums are a highly regarded resource for professional woodworkers. Messages and responses that are crafted in a professional and civil manner strengthen this resource. Messages that do not reflect a professional tone reduce the value of our forums.

Messages are inappropriate when their content: is deemed libelous in nature or is based on rumor, fails to meet basic standards of decorum, contains blatant advertising or inappropriate emphasis on self promotion (return to top).

Libel:   Posts which defame an individual or organization, or employ a tone which can be viewed as malicious in nature. Words, pictures, or cartoons which expose a person or organization to public hatred, shame, disgrace, or ridicule, or induce an ill opinion of a person or organization, are libelous.

Improper Decorum:   Posts which are profane, inciting, disrespectful or uncivil in tone, or maliciously worded. This also includes the venting of unsubstantiated opinions. Such messages do little to illuminate a given topic, and often have the opposite effect. Constructive criticism is acceptable (return to top).

Advertising:   The purpose of WOODWEB Forums is to provide answers, not an advertising venue. Companies participating in a Forum discussion should provide specific answers to posted questions. WOODWEB suggests that businesses include an appropriately crafted signature in order to identify their company. A well meaning post that seems to be on-topic but contains a product reference may do your business more harm than good in the Forum environment. Forum users may perceive your references to specific products as unsolicited advertising (spam) and consciously avoid your web site or services. A well-crafted signature is an appropriate way to advertise your services that will not offend potential customers. Signatures should be limited to 4-6 lines, and may contain information that identifies the type of business you're in, your URL and email address (return to top).

Repeated Forum Abuse: Forum participants who repeatedly fail to follow WOODWEB's Forum Guidelines may encounter difficulty when attempting to post messages.

There are often situations when the original message asks for opinions: "What is the best widget for my type of shop?". To a certain extent, the person posting the message is responsible for including specific questions within the message. An open ended question (like the one above) invites responses that may read as sales pitches. WOODWEB suggests that companies responding to such a question provide detailed and substantive replies rather than responses that read as a one-sided product promotion. It has been WOODWEB's experience that substantive responses are held in higher regard by our readers (return to top).
