Timesaver Speedsander gouging wood when tracking

There should be three photos attached showing the surface of the board, the light shining under a framing square held over one of the gouges.
Any help is appreciated, I am dead in the water and behind schedule for some beautiful mahogany bookcases.

There is only one picture. What I see on the board is the usual back and forth sanding, some marks from the thickness planer feed roller from an extremely light cut, and some torn grain or rough sawn marks near the right side. Which part don't you like? If you are making a light pass like the thickness planer, the rollers holding down the stock are probably set too light.

Thank you for your response. I will try to tighten the hold down rollers. Another photo attached showing the gouging. it is about 0.010 inches deep. I have owned this sander for fourteen years. it only recently started gouging like this.

Do you get the same results with different sanding belts? Flipping the belts, same results? Change the feed speed? Look at your platen and look for worn graphite. Do you gave multiple sanding heads? Just a couple of starting points.

Hi Dustin, I have owned this machine for fourteen years. It isn't the belts or the feed rate. I am making a short YouTube video to explain everything for anyone who has a Timesaver Speed Sander. It is bizarre.

They inexplicably reduced the diameter of the drive shaft directly under the bearing. I have no idea why they machined it that way. I made some Delrin shims and it seems to be working.

Yes, I pulled the drive pulley off, took the flange bearing off and noticed that the shaft has been machined from 1 inch diameter to 7/8 inch diameter under the bearing. So there is a 1/8 inch void under the bearing. It makes no sense.

Is there anyone who owns a machine like this or does repairs on Speed Sanders that someone can refer me to?

I made split shims out of Delrin to fill the space and it seems to run better. I will make a video today that explains everything.

I used one of those before, and I never had good results it wasn't my machine so I never messed with it, I bought a 137 and I love it gives me amazing results

Are you sure that is not a sleeve on the shaft that is probably stuck? Looks like a taper sleeve like used on a drill press with that slot showing.

What model is your machine? Have you looked on line for a parts list?

Hi Rich, it is a Model S311-13-1. I am working with Timesaver to find the problem. I think it is the pneumatic piston that controls the oscillation of the belt. The Piston has InLee AUU 40*25 printed on it. I am searching for a rebuild kit or replacement part now.

Automation Direct has a lot of pneumatic components on hand, used them many times for parts. Fast shipping also.
