Stainless steel softclose hinges3/14/19
Wondering if anyone can recommend a SS soft close hinge. Looking for full overlay. A google search found some, but no manufacturers I had heard of. Sugatsune looked promising but I don't believe they come in soft close. Thanks.
Your search can end here.
The Sugatsune is, to my knowledge the only stainless steel concealed (European style) hinge on the market and, you are correct, it is not available in soft close.
This is a common question for use in outdoor kitchens and for MRI rooms. If your application is for an MRI room, you should check the specs with Sugatsune. I don't believe their SS qualifies.
You could always add a Smove damper to make the door soft close.
Best of luck,
My first question is do these hinges need to be stainless because of where they are being used?
A lot "designers" specify stainless steel hinges thinking they will match the door hardware or that the nickel finish is stainless steel.
I am doing a job now where the carbon steel is to have a stainless steel finish applied.
Sugatsune can be used in a MRI room as long as the specifier understands and approves that the SS parts are fabricated with carbon steel tooling and there is transference to the stainless steel parts.
Modern MRI machines get the magnets tuned to the room and that small amount of carbon is generally okay.
Sugatsune has a disclaimer letter that needs to be approved in this instance.
It is a Richelieu 304ss soft close european hinge.
Thanks Doug. That looks like the ticket. I ordered a pair from a different manufacturer to try as well. Never heard of them, FYRONDY. Richelieu looks more promising. Thanks again.
